Whether you live in Amsterdam or are just visiting, you're welcome to explore our libraries, enjoy a wide range of books and media, attend events, or simply relax in one of our beautiful locations. Many of our services are available in English. Come in and feel at home!
Central Library
Our Central Library at Oosterdok has seven floors with books, magazines, study spaces and meeting rooms. There's free WiFi throughout the building. On the top floor you'll find Restaurant Babel with a view over the city. Open seven days a week.

Looking for your next read in English? Our collection includes contemporary fiction, classics, thrillers, non-fiction and more.
Our 30 Locations in Amsterdam, Weesp, Diemen and Ouderkerk
We have 30 libraries across Amsterdam and surrounding areas. Each location has its own collection and program. You can borrow and return items at any OBA location.
Activities
We organize talks, workshops, language courses and programs for children throughout the year. Most activities are in Dutch, but we also have English-language events. The full agenda shows what's happening at each location.
Memberships and fees
With an OBA membership you can borrow books, e-books, audiobooks, films and music. Membership is free for everyone under 27. You don't need a membership to visit the library, use WiFi, or attend most activities.
