ODE AAN ETTY | Interactive Lecture Rebekah Vince
Dr. Rebekah Vince will first speak about her own encounter with Etty Hillesum’s writing through French-Algerian author Karima Berger’s novel Les Attentives, which brings to life the Moroccan girl who accompanied her writing. She will then facilitate dialogic engagement with quotes from the Etty Hillesum Cards project, in Dutch and English translation.
For the interactive part a Dutch translation can be provided if necessary. Dr. Rebekah Vince is a British-Dutch poet, translator and researcher interested in dialogic approaches to memory, heritage and storytelling.
In de maand april 2024 wordt in aanloop naar 4 en 5 mei een speciale Etty Hillesum Maand georganiseerd. Zowel in Amsterdam Zuid als in Middelburg zal een aantal diverse activiteiten rondom de Joodse dagboekschrijfster plaatsvinden. De in Middelburg geboren Etty Hillesum woonde tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog in de Gabriël Metsustraat 6 met uitzicht op het Museumplein in Amsterdam. Daar schreef zij haar wereldberoemd geworden dagboeken. Tijdens de hele themamaand is er in OBA Roelof Hartplein een expositie over Etty Hillesum van Marijke Dijkstra.
